ROMA, 10 novembre 2008 – L’ottava edizione internazionale di Miss Earth 2008, che si tenuta ieri sera nelle Filippine, si è conclusa con la vittoria della ventiduenne Karla Henry, talentuosa modella filippina.
La Henry, sostenuta dal pubblico di casa, ha battuto con caparbietà le altre 84 miss che hanno partecipato all’evento.
Dalla Herny è arrivato anche un messaggio a Barack Obama, che la modella ha voluto ringraziare in pubblico: "For me, what I would tell the newly-elected president of the United States, being one of the most powerful countries in the world, I would encourage him to use the environment or to implement environmental knowledge in the curriculum of all schools, whether in the United States or in the Philippines. Environmental knowledge is something all of us must share. But most importantly, we must teach the youth for it something we should instill in them so that in the near future they will be the ones to take care of our mother earth. I firmly believe in the saying that the children are our future".
L’ambito titolo, ora in mano alla modella filippina, era stato vinto lo scorso anno dalla canadese Jessica Nicole Trisko.
